Mr. Anderson Tan of Columbia Digital, the official Philippine distributor of Nikon, has just sent word about their new service policy.
As of 9/14/06:
SERVICE SERVICE:
1. We now have loaner units for Nikon pro users who will have their DSLR’s repaired for a period of time. Pro users, meaning those who use their DSLR to make a living (i.e. wedding photographers, studio photographers, news journalists, etc.). Just present a valid ID, calling card and sign a memorandum of agreement.
2. We will still be servicing grey market Nikon DSLR, lenses and Coolpix units due to popular demand but with a surcharge of 30% from the bill. We really have to discourage grey market and thus have to charge a LOT higher.
3. We will be servicing Nikon DSLR, lenses, Coolpix units bought from other countries providing that there is an international warranty and proof of purchase abroad (Sales Invoice) with a surcharge of 10% from the bill.
4. Lenses with international warranty will be absorbed by Columbia Digital excluding freight cost and customs duties if needed to be shipped to Nikon HK for repair.
5. New diagnosis time of your DSLR will be maximum of 5-7 WORKING DAYS.
6. Spare parts prices have already been reduced 5-10% on all spare parts.
7. We have started to stock ample spare parts by placing a huge order today for frequently consumed spare parts.
8. I think I’ve mentioned that we already purchased a LOT of new tools and equipment from Nikon HK.
9. We will be sending 2 new techs to Nikon HK in October for training.
10. We will be coming out with a Nikon Pro card before the year ends. This will feature discount on camera services.
I am the owner of Nikon Coolpix 8700. Today the motor of the zoom do not work very well. I would like to know if in your compagnie you can fix it. I am living in Cebu.

Columbia Digital should be able to service your unit. Is your unit still under warranty? If it is not, you will probably have to pay for the service fee and pay for the parts if they are to replace any.

i have a coolpix s210 given to me by my sister from the states. I was using it occasionally when all of a sudden i cannot take pictures when the camera is set to auto flash. the shutter wont shot. however, if i set the camera to no flash, the shutter works and i noticed that when the camera is on, there is some noise. the camera is still new. What can i do. I hope it still can be remedied.

I have a Nikon Coolpix S52 9.0 MP. I was able to use it without any problems yesterday. But today, after taking only one picture, my camera suddenly shut itself down. When I tried to turn it on again, and error message came up on the LCD display “Lens Cover Error”. Apparently the lens cover got stuck and refuses to close. It’s really infuriating because I just recently bought this camera. Do you think I should take it back to the camera store where I bought it from or do I go directly to Columbia?

My husband bought me a camera from the US, I have a Nikon D-5000, used it several times already then 3 days ago, it would not turn on..no power. I am not sure if Columbia service centers know about the RECALL of this specific camera, i called them and they’re not aware of it. I am lost and dont know where to bring it for a simple repair. Honestly I am quite disappointed choosing NIKON over Canon : (
How come your repairs are taking so long? Imagine the camera is under repair for 3 months now. I’ve lost so many opportunities and time. I’m based in Davao and based from the dealers statement my DSLR is now being repaired and will be shipped soon. Now, I called directly Columbia stating that I have to wait for the parts to arrive next year. Imagine the delay and wasted opportunities. NO SERVICE UNITS NOR REPLACEMENTS. Repairs took longer than I expected. I’ve only used the camera for 3 months and now the repair will take 4 months. You got to be kidding me. When I demanded for a replacement they said I have to wait. They said that there are a lot of parts that will be replaced and for that reason I won’t get a replacement for that? Very disappointing. I won’t recommend investing on this camera because of its after sales service.

I bought Nikon P60 a month ago. The problem is when I downloaded the video via SD card to computer, the color RED of the object becomes blue when downloaded and played. When the video is played on its camera LCD, the color is the same with the object.
No problem with taking a picture. The object color is the same when viewed through computer. Pls. advise what to do.

I also have same issues…i would like to know how much will it cost to have my camera checked. The problem is it wont turn on. We already used a lot of new batteries on it. I even purchased rechargeable batteries but it still wont turn on. Every time I try to turn it on it will just flash Warning batteries exhausted!…I don’t know what’s the problem since my brother was able to use it and didn’t do anything on it.It was bought internationally.

I have Nikon AF Nikkor 75 to 300-mm and 28 to 70-mm lenses. These lenses have been bought in 1995.
I read over the internet that Nikon lenses are basically the same up to now. The only difference is that new models are made of plastic while the older ones are made of steel (just like mine).

Is this the same company as columbia tri-star? I have send the money for my dlsr repair last february 9.they promised that i can haveve my camera back after 3 weeks. Its more than four weeks now, but they are “still waiting for the parts” i dont really know if i could give my trust to this company..

I have a Nikon s4000 which got some kind of a problem. It turned on suddenly inside its case which made the protruding lens push hard against the case/container. After I switched it off, its picture quality doesn’t seem like that of a 12 MP camera. Its quality was poor (with blurring in some parts). I wanted it to be repaired. I’m here in Davao City.
