Stop Child Abuse Now! Campaign
The time has come to lead the nation towards the vision of making the Philippines a safer place for all children. This calls for a movement that will launch an all out war against the silent epidemic that is destroying both the future of our children and of our nation.
More… Our movement, Stop Child Abuse Now! shall be launched on November 25, 2006, at the Quezon City Memorial Circle from 7:00 am to 12 noon. Thousands of volunteers, child protection advocates, professionals, parents, and children, will come together for a united cause. Our battle cry is NOW! because we will no longer tolerate this crime against the most helpless and innocent of our society. We want ever-ready and ever-present action when one of our children is abused and we want all sectors of our country to be urgent in battling this serious, yet preventable crime.
People involved
The Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) movement will be a coalition of different organizations concerned with child protection.It will also be a conglomeration of individuals who are active in social work and volunteerism, as well as child protection advocates. HOPE worldwide Philippines itself has around 2000 strong volunteer base in NCR alone.Media will also be a very important component for the success of the movement. The media will play the invaluable role of informing the public about the issues surrounding child sexual and physical abuse.
Lastly, the movement is a joint effort of the three most important institutions in the lives of children: the family, the church, and the school.The event
On November 25, 2006 thousands of volunteers, advocates, and several organizations will gather to display their stand against child abuse. This event will also kick off the one-year personal safety empowerment campaign by HOPE worldwide Philippines. This campaign means that we will:
- Educate ONE MILLION children about good/bad touch and how to get help when they are being abused.
- Educate hundreds of families and parents on the prevention and identification of child sexual abuse.
- Train more college and professional to become advocates against child sexual abuse.
The campaign will simultaneously take place in 8 major areas in the NCR, and 17 other provinces where we have volunteer base. These provinces are namely: Angeles, Bacolod, Baguio, Batangas, Bulacan, Cagayan de Oro, Cavite, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, General Santos, Laguna, Laoag, Legaspi, Olongapo, Rizal, and Zamboanga.
