The DivePhotoFest Underwater Photography Workshop is an informative, fun and rewarding photo course that will be held at the beautiful El Galleon Resort in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines from June 3, 2007 to June 10, 2007 which includes 3 dives per day plus breakfast and lunch, as well as 7 nights accommodation at the resort. In order to offer the best diving experience and variety of marine life, Dive Photo Fest workshops are scheduled in the Indo Pacific’s premiere locations. From the sharks and mantas of Palau and Yap to the amazing reefs and bizarre critters of the Philippines and Indonesia, we offer a great mix of photo subjects to choose from.

The Philippines is known for amazing macro critters and exciting wide angle drift dives. Puerto Galera is the hotspot of local diving and features several wrecks just offshore as well as amazing muck diving off Sabang Beach. Stargazers, blue ribbon eels, frogfish, banded seasnakes, pygmy seahorses, and coleman shrimp are a small sampling of the critters that can be found just minutes from the resort. High voltage drift diving with schools of jacks, snappers, and reefs covered with barrel sponges, crinoids of every colour, soft corals, sea fans and clouds of anthias help make this area the premier dive location in the world’s most biodiverse region!

Daily presentations will be given by Simon Buxton, Tim Rock, and Wetpixel video moderator Mike Veitch. Sponsors include Aquatica, Ikelite, Magic Filters, and the PADI Diving Society.

With the emerging popularity of underwater photography in the digital age, we have noticed many people with varying experience levels are purchasing new camera systems. In order to address the differing needs of this demographic, we now offer two different photography curriculums to choose from. Our standard workshops are designed for those with minimal photographic knowledge and experience underwater and on the computer.

During a standard workshop, we start from the beginning with basic camera maintenance, lighting and strobe positioning, using a browser, basic Photoshop techniques, and composition. With 3 pros on hand, in water help is a trademark of our workshops, not only do we talk about theories, we help participants implement them in the field. Nightly critiquing sessions and entertainment in the form of slideshows, videos, and presentations add to the fun of our workshops.

Prepaid package pricing starts at US $1196 for double occupancy and US $1396 for single occupancy, prices will be slightly higher if paying on site due to Philipino tax laws.  However there is a $50 discount for PADI Diving Society Members.  So join us in the beautiful Philippines from June 3-10, 2007, to enjoy World Class Diving and facilities, amazing marine biodiversity, and improve your photography skills at the same time.
