  2. jamesvon says:

In rule no. 7, it states that an entry must be accompanied by a JPEG file which has a size of 5400×7200 pixels (8×24 inches, 300 DPI ). For a regular digital camera, the maximum size is approimately 2500×1200 pixels. Even for a a DSLR of 10 MP, the maximum pixel size is approximately 3300×2800 px. How can this be. Is the file size set on the photoshop or the raw pictures must have this file size?

  3. Hi flisha,

Stay tuned… more contests coming soon ;-)

  4. Hi Jamesvon,

You can resize it in photoshop although I find the 8×10 dimension to be odd.

Anyhow, I will inquire to get clarifications on this matter.

    Thanks! ;-)

  5. I tried resizing a 2592×1944 @ 180 dpi photo shot from a canon digital ixus i zoom point and shoot camera to 5400×7200 @ 300 dpi and the output was pretty good considering it came from a p&s.

  6. jamesvon says:

wow great…thanks for the advice…!! he he…now im excited to hunt for that winning shot he he…

  16. Hi Zade,

Yes you can use any brand of camera.

  17. yve says:

  19. JnT says:

Hi! Thanks for the information! I’m an amateur photographer and I dont know much about these things, I’d like to know though, on how n where i can resize the photos? Thank you very much! :)

  20. Hi JnT,

You can use any graphics editing software to resize your photo. What imgae editing software do you have installed?

  21. pancreas says:

I hope we can find an entry form today. If we do, would it be ok to just photocopy it for multiple entries?

I think they need the 5400×7200 pixel resolution for the “large size” printing of the top ten pictures.

  22. Hi Pancreas,

Updates on the entry forms can be found here…

Star FotoFest Contest Entry Forms Now Available!

  23. JnT says:

Hi again! thanks for responding! yup, i’ve got some editing softwares here installed, i’ll try checking them out. Thanks for the help! :)

  24. JnT says:

Hi again! regarding the image editor software, i have Adobe installed in my computer. I tried adjusting the pic with the required measurements but I cant find the DPI option. The choices in Adobe are pixels/inch and pixels/cm. Are pixels/inch interchangeable with DPI? can I just use the pixels per inch instead? and are the measurements 5400×7200 pixels fixed as width x height or can i use them either way depending on the picture? Thank you very much! :)

  25. Hi Janet,

Yes you can change the DPI in the “Resolution” field using pixels/inch. DPI is actually equal to pixels per inch since DPI means Dots Per Inch.

The width and height are interchangeable so your photo can either be in portrate or landscape mode.

    Good luck! ;-)

  26. JnT says:

Hey, thank u so much! :)

  27. trish says:

Hi! My daughter and I joined your fotocontest. We were not able to see the photo exhibit of all the entries. Will you be showing in your website the pictures submitted so we get to see the entries? How about the winning entries, will you be showing them or publishing them in the newspapers?
