The Food Showdown 2007

The Food Showdown 2007 brought to you by Chef TV is a three-day culinary event that will be held on August 13, 14 and 15.  This event is a live competition in the mold of Chefs on Parade, a culinary competition of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines. Competitors will include students, amateurs and professionals in the hospitality industry, whether involved in cooking or services.

 

The event, endorsed by the Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines, Les Toques Blanches Philippines and Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines will be held at the Philippine Trade and Training Center (PhilTrade) on Roxas Boulevard.

There are over 20 exciting competitions lined up for the event that include cake decorating, bartending, Filipino desserts, the picnic basket, etc. One of the highlights is the Chef Wars, a take on the popular cooking show, Iron Chefs, and a reformat of the Chefs on Parade Market Basket Competition. There will be three major Chef War Categories (Classical, Filipino Classical and Freestyle). The panel of judges will be comprised of seasoned food and beverage professionals in the hospitality industry. Big prizes await the winners of the competitions.

The Food Showdown 2007 is a project of Chef TV, which is a production of TV Food Chefs, Inc. a subsidiary of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation. Chef TV is hosted by Myrna Segismundo and co-hosted by Chef Jill Sandique and food writer, Micky Fenix. It airs Wednesdays at 6:00 pm with replays Saturdays at 4:30 pm on the Lifestyle Channel.

The Food Showdown 2007 will also be aired as a separate TV special. The winners of the competitions and the highlights of the 3-day culinary event will be included in the special.

The Food Showdown 2007 can be as exciting to non-participants. There will be cake decorating, cocktail mixing, pastry displays and, the crowd pleaser, flairtending.

There will also be seminars on food styling and photography, food writing, business financing, wines and coffee.

Tickets prices are P450.00 for the season pass and P150.00 for the day pass.

Gates open at 9 a.m. and no competition goes beyond 6 p.m.
