This workshop serves as a venue for self-expression and aims to develop the potential of participants as photographers. Specially designed for young minds, this photography workshop is both fun and educational. These are some of the topics that will be covered:

• Introduction to photography: a brief history
• Composition, use of design elements, and other techniques for visual impact
• Point-and-shoot camera usage
• Tips on shooting people, landscapes, close-ups/macro, moving objects, night photos, and even travel photos!

Requirement: Any compact camera

Firmware v1.0.5 for the EOS Digital Rebel XTi, commonly know to us here in the Philippines as Canon EOS 400D, has the following fixes and improvements included:

1. Fixes the printing of lens names when using PictBridge.
2. [Redeye 1] can now be selected when connecting with specific printers.
3. Improves the reliability of communication with the Speedlite 380EX.

This firmware update applies to cameras with firmware versions up to 1.0.4 installed. If your camera’s firmware is already version 1.0.5, it is not necessary to perform this update.

The festival will be on April 26-28, 2007 at the CCP complex and the Quirino Granstand.

Dominique James will be conducting a 2-day RTW & Haute Couture Fashion Photography Workshop  at the Philippine Center for Creative Imaging (PCCI) in Kodak  Building at Pasong Tamo this weekend, on April 21 (Saturday) and 22 (Sunday), 2007. The 2-day session is from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Isa Silva of Gray Area Studios has sent in word about the schedule of their upcoming Open House Shoots.

Gray Area Studio’s Open House Shoots will be on the following Saturdays: April 21, 28 and May 5, 2007, from 9 am to 12 noon.

The theme is V8, the name of the store whose merchandise we are shooting. They have the following products: Defacto Jeans (customized jeans), Shambhu shirts, and other accessories. They have a rock theme to it, so our photos will be revolving around that.

There will be around 5 models per day and we are accommodating 15 photographers (6-7 photographers per studio). These models are not  rofessional models, they are customers of Defacto Jeans. We are going for the “regular people wearing regular jeans look”, similar to Levi’s ad before. (I am not familiar with this so if you know, please enlighten us).

Basic Studio Lighting Seminar by Ken Go

When: May 25 Friday (5:30pm to 9:30pm), May 26 Saturday (scheduled shoot) and Critique session on May 28 Monday (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm)

Where: Unit 602 Cityland 10 Tower 2, H.V. Dela Costa St. Salcedo Village, Makati City, behind RCBC Tower near Shell Gas Station.

2. Light modifiers
3. Trigerring lights
4. Measuring light

6. Types of portrait lighting
7. Dealing with models

1st day of seminar will be on discussion of the topics, there will be no shooting to be done. Though there will be a hands-on practice in measuring lights using a flash meter.
