Learn the essentials of Adobe Photoshop, the standard for image enhancement and compositing for print, multimedia and the Web. Photoshop Basics, which is the first part of a two-part workshop on Adobe Photoshop, deals with the basic techniques to get you going with photocompositing and simple retouching.

August 17 Friday (5:30pm to 9:30pm), August 18 Saturday (scheduled shoot)Critique session on August 20 Monday (6:00 pm to 7:30 pm)

Topics:
1. Types of commonly used studio lights
2. Light modifiers
3. Trigerring lights
4. Measuring light
5. Light positions
6. Types of portrait lighting
7. Dealing with models

1st day of seminar will be on discussion of the topics, there will be no shooting to be done. Though there will be a hands-on practice in measuring lights using a flash meter.

2nd day, scheduled shoots for the group (9am, 1pm and 4pm), models will be provided. Participants should only come on their time slot, to avoid over crowding. During the shoot, each participant will be asked to conceptualize a lighting set-up to be done with their model, other participants on the same group will be assisting. After the participant finishes the shoot, other participant on the group will do the same, so the previous participant will now be acting as the assistant. (round robin system)

For the Critique session which will allow fellow students and Ken to critique ones work, as they say getting better needs one to realize its faults as to make sure to correct it the next possible time.

Kindly bring 1 to 2 of your favorite photo from the photo session printed on 5R, ink jet prints on photo paper are acceptable. All photos will be posted together on the wall for viewing. Ken usually also discuss some questions regarding post processing during these critique sessions.This guarantees a hands-on set-up, thus learning from actually doing it rather than just listening. This will also make sure that the participant will the only one shooting at the time of his/her set-up, so he/she gets all the needed angles to complete the shoot, no more wrestling for a spot just to get the photo.Seminar Price is P. 2,500.00 - inclusive of handouts.

Art of Digital Show International Call for Entries

The Art of Digital Show 

The Art of Digital Show, a major international exhibition, announced today their “Call for Entries” to digital artists around the world.   This world-class exhibition, which runs October 6 to November 11, 2007 at the Lyceum Theatre Gallery in downtown San Diego, will feature all forms of digital art.  The gallery will use flat-screens to display video art along with traditional arrangements of digital pieces.  Entries must be submitted by August 15, 2007.  More information on submission guidelines is available below. The judge for The Art of Digital Show is Neal Benezra, director of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
 
“Our great love of this art form drives us to create a truly excellent presentation of digital art from around the world,” said Steven Churchill, curator and founder of the event.  “Our goal is to elevate and promote digital art and to provide substantial benefits to the exhibiting artists.”
 
The Opening Reception Gala and Awards Ceremony, a free public reception, will take place October 6 from 6 to 9 p.m.  A total of $3,000 in cash awards will be presented to the top nine artists chosen by Mr. Benezra. The top award winning images will be announced on September 1, 2007.  An estimated 1500 people from all over the world will be in attendance, including most of the exhibiting artists.  A free 72-page show catalog will be available during the exhibit, featuring all of the selected images.

About The Art of Digital Show
The second annual Art of Digital Show will take place October 6 to November 11, 2007 at the Lyceum Theatre Gallery, located in San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter. The mission is to provide a truly “artist oriented” show and to create a world-class presentation of digital art in San Diego. 

Submission guidelines are found in The Prospectus on the Website at http://www.artofdigitalshow.com. Approximately 20,000 people are expected to view the Show during the five-week run.

The Lyceum Theatre Gallery is open and free to the public seven days a week. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. on the weekends.

The entry details can be read in the Prospectus. The online entry process is very easy, simply filling out a short registration form and then uploading your digital files. Entry deadline is August 15th at 11:59 pm California Time.

Entry Fee: Still images are $25 for the first entry, $10 for each additional entry. Video art is $45 for each entry. There is no limit to the number of entries an artist may enter. Artists who entered any work in the Art of Digital Show 2006 or any of their previous Art of Photography Shows will receive a $15 discount towards the Art of Digital Show 2007.
