Canon recently released updates to their DSLR software suite. The Canon RAW Codec 1.0 for Windows Vista seems to be the most notable among the updates since it is a new addition to the suite. The EOS Utility 2.0 Updater for Windows is also a welcome update especially to the Windows Vista users who had troubles in making the older version of their EOS Utility work with their Windows Vista PCs.
Here is a list of what Canon has updated:

DIWA (Digital Imaging Websites Association), a world-wide organisation of collaborating websites, gave a DIWA Gold Award to the Nikon D40 digital single-lens-reflex (DSLR) camera for its high overall performance at a very competitive price.
Although the Nikon D40 is an entry-level digital SLR camera, many of its internal technologies are inherited from its far more expensive siblings, the Nikon D80 and Nikon D200. This includes its excellent 3D Colour Matrix II metering, its high quality image-processing algorithms and fast performance. Thanks to this, the Nikon D40 delivers excellent price/quality ratio. Several samples have passed DIWA’s rigorous testing procedure with excellence, making the Nikon D40 a worthy winner of a DIWA Gold Award.
DIWA is also unique in its policy in issuing awards for deserving products throughout the year, culminating in annual best of the year Platinum medal awards in all product categories.
At the heart of the DIWA organisation is its multi-lingual Web site, http://www.diwa-awards.com, where you can find links to the latest reviews published by DIWA member publications. The site also archives DIWA awards and is designed to aid consumers in their choice of imaging products.

BetterLight has raised the bar on ridiculously high-resolution cameras yet again, busting out its new top-end, 416-megapixel Super10K-HS model at the big PMA trade show.
Like the company’s other mega megapixel wonders, the Super10K-HS isn’t a digital camera itself, but a so-called “scanning back” that attaches to high-end, large-format cameras for tasks like photographing paintings (as seen above) and other stationary objects.
They need to be stationary ’cause shooting a single photo at the full 416-megapixel resolution takes upwards of two minutes, effectively working more like a scanner than a digital camera.
Once it’s finished, however, you’ve got a 10,200 x 13,600 pixel image to do as you please with, clocking in at a file size of about 794MB.
Anyone remotely considering getting one had better start saving up (or working on a pitch for the boss), with this monster set to demand a hefty $22,995 when it’s released at the end of the month.
