Ansmann Powergrip C-400 for Canon EOS 350/400

Friday, January 26th, 2007
“More than 1000 Photos without a break!”

Ansmann Powergrip C-400

Ansmann Powergrip C-400

The Powergrip C-400 from the battery specialist ANSMANN ENERGY, offers “endless” power for the popular Digital SLR cameras Canon EOS 350D, 400D, Rebel XT und Rebel XTi.

Photo shoots with more than 1000 pictures are possible without recharging. The high capacity is achieved by using Li-Ion batteries with 3600mAh.

By comparison the original battery pack (without grip) has a capacity of 720mAh. This means 5 times the battery life!

This product will be very interesting for the professional users that understand the advantages of long life and easier handling, even with large hands.

The original internal battery can still be used as a reserve back-up.

The Powergrip C-400 is attached to the camera via a screw on the bottom of the camera body. The battery charger is included in the set.

This Powergrip (Part No. 5044083) will be available in shops and via mail order business.

Poetry - Exhibition of Fine Photography @ Artists-run Independent Art Space

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Poetry an exhibition of fine photography of Francisco BAL, Allan RAZO, Toto TARROSA and Bobby NUESTRO at (ar.i.a.s) Artists-run Independent Art Space, opens January 26, 2007, Friday, 6:00 PM.

The show addresses, on how we read a photograph. Since the basic photographic discourse, insisted that we read a photograph not as image but as a text, which involves a series of problematic ambiguous and often contradictory meanings and relationship between the reader and the image. Somehow the exhibiting Artists presumed that the images are a Poetry that has so many metaphorical insinuations.

Artists-run Independent Art Space is located in 318-A LRI Business Plaza , Nicanor Garcia Street, Makati City.

Talents Inc

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

John Mateos Ong just sent this in.

There is a video that was shared to me that I want you guys to see. Talents Inc is a company of artists: Actors, Singers, Script Writers, Directors, PHOTOGRAPHERS, and the likes.

If you consider yourself as an artist, you may want to check this video out. Who knows, you might fit in the team.

Oh, one popular advertising photographer is in the video Francis Abraham… For those who don’t know him… He is the one who makes those hairs of sunsilk look so shiny and takes pictures of SMB bottles with beer pouring out and the bottle cap just popped out. Great talented guy!

John Mateos Ong Launches Appreticeship Program for Wedding Photograhers

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Effective March of 2007, wedding photographer John Mateos Ong will no longer be getting Volunteer Assistants for Prenups & Weddings.

“Not that I find it ineffective but I feel the apprentice must be taught more than how to adjust color, compose and setting exposures. Therefore, I would like to invite those who really want to be wedding photographers to a long term training and career opportunity.”

Feb 9, 2007 (Friday)
Oasis Manila
7-9pm Program Overview
9-11pm Interview for those who remain

“On this day, I will give the vision of Imagine Nation and its purpose, how the apprenticeship program works, the deal, where do I eventually want to use you, etc… After the 2 hour (estimate briefing), those who are interested will be asked to stay for interview. Sorry to say but as I have limited resources, not all who are interested will be accepted. I would probably only accept 10 people. I will decide on who will accept and send you guys emails by Monday Feb 12, 2007.”

For those who will be accepted, there will be a meeting either Feb 14 and 15, 2007 to plot out the calendar of activities.

Those who are interested may email John.

De La Salle - College of St.Benilde Offers BA in Photography

Monday, January 22nd, 2007
College of St. Benilde Offers Bachelor of Arts in Photography

The DLS-CSB School of Design and Arts (SDA) will break new ground this year as it unveils three new programs: AB in Animation, AB in Digital Filmmaking and AB in Photography. The three new courses were conceptualized in line with the SDA’s thrust to “develop students who will produce creative and innovative design solutions.”

The SDA’s Multimedia Arts chair Mr. Ram Nolasco attested, “Prior to the introduction of these new programs, we had to find out which emerging fields piqued our students’ interest. The AB in Multimedia Arts program already has subjects focusing on the said fields but these three evidently deserved their own specialized areas of concentration.”

Certainly, the SDA faculty—particularly those who worked hard to set up the programs—are all enthusiastic about this milestone.

More Than Perfect Pictures

The AB in Photography degree, developed to elevate photography as “fine art,” aims to produce students who won’t just take great photos “In the AB in Photography program, we wouldn’t just teach students how to use a camera. We would want them to be able to execute intellectually challenging concepts through their photos. We want to develop photographers who are in tune with the developments of contemporary photography and with international trends,” said Mr. Julius Clar.

The SDA envisions AB in Photography as a program that would not only establish photography as a viable creative industry but likewise harness the power of the medium as an agent of social change.

The AB in Photography program—which takes three years to complete—will focus on aesthetics and the development of creative photography skills, as well as historical, theoretical and conceptual foundations. Professional, business and ethical practices will also be tackled.

During the students’ first year, they will enroll in General Education subjects. The curriculum will consist of Design Foundation courses in their second year. They’ll take up major subjects focusing on the theoretical and practical studies of photography in their third and final year. An internship will be offered prior to or during their last year.

Clar reiterated: “We would want to develop the students’ conceptual skills as much as their technical skills. They should take photos that give way to critical thinking. They should take photos that inspire people to ask questions. Their pictures should transcend mere imagery. After all, that is the purpose of art.”

Great Expectations

As the SDA gears up for the debut of their three latest offerings, Nolasco asserted, “We hope that these programs become very successful in two ways: that we churn out quality students and then boost their careers in their chosen industries. Also, we want to develop these programs in such a way that our country becomes a center of creativity in Asia through the SDA.”
